This course offers an overview of the main developments of philosophical thought in the period between 500 and 1500, focusing on themes related to ethics and political philosophy. The course will pay attention to thinkers such as Augustine, Peter Abelard, Thomas Aquinas and William of Ockham. The course will follow a text oriented approach: the students will study short fragments of primary philosophical texts (in English translation).
