Aims
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • give a concise and clear account of crucial themes and developments of contemporary philosophy;
  • give a concise and clear account of influential philosophical theses and concepts developed by prominent contemporary thinkers;
  • understand and analyse some important texts by prominent contemporary thinkers.
Content
During this course, we will study twentieth- and twenty-first-century philosophy by analysing some important texts by prominent contemporary thinkers. We will pay attention both to influential authors and to the most significant directions and developments of contemporary thought, such as phenomenology, logical positivism, deconstruction, biopolitics, and the analytic-continental divide. We will also place those philosophical authors and schools in their historical context.
