The influence of what people say on our lives is difficult to overestimate. In this course, you will learn a series of concepts, ideas, and theories that help you better understand and talk about what is going on in communication and argumentation.

We will address the following topics:
- inferences beyond literal meaning;
- commitments through language;
- taboo words;
- subjective predicates.
In addition, you will be trained to critically scrutinize argumentations in terms of (hidden) premises, conclusions, sub-argumentations, etc.
