In this course, the basic grammar of Classical Syriac will be taught, up to the level that basic texts can be read and translated (with the help of a dictionary) into English or Dutch. The reading of a number of texts (in class and via self-study) will familiarize the student with the most important genres of Classical Syriac literature.
