Aims
At the end of part one of this course you are able to:
  • describe and understand different developments, movements and topics in Christian Spirituality, in particular the life and work of Titus Brandsma;
  • work with relevant literary, historical and hermeneutical methods;
  • reflect on a topic related to this seminar and describe and analyse it adequately.
Content
There is an ongoing debate about how to define Christian spirituality in particular and how to connect it with other forms of spirituality. Using literary, historical, and hermeneutical methods, this seminar explores the most important Christian movements and spiritual personalities to sketch a working definition based upon an overview of the history of various traditions, concepts, and thinkers in the Christian tradition.
