At the end of part one of this course you are able to:
- describe and understand different developments, movements and topics in Christian Spirituality, in particular the life and work of Titus Brandsma;
- work with relevant literary, historical and hermeneutical methods;
- reflect on a topic related to this seminar and describe and analyse it adequately.

In this course we will address the question of what the proper perspective of Christian spirituality is. We will address this question through the work of Titus BRandsma and his view on the history of spirituality. This will be investigated in relation to various other models of spiritual theology at the end of Modernity, like Michel de Certeau (1925-1986)
