This course offers an introduction into contemporary philosophy of law/ ethics.
The basis of the course consists of the world famous 'Justice' book by well-known philosopher Michael Sandel. During the course a close reading of this book will be complemented by the reading of a variety of classical texts by authors such as Aristotle, Locke, Kant, Bentham, Rawls, Nussbaum and some classical cases such as Brown v. Board of Education, Roe v. Wade. The main theories discussed will be utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics.
