Na afloop van de scriptie kan de student:
- interdisciplinaire theoretische en methodologische noties en begrippen hanteren en toetsen met betrekking tot gekozen stromingen of objecten in kunst en cultuur;
- wetenschappelijke inzichten op een heldere en overtuigende wijze schriftelijk verwoorden in een interdisciplinaire analyse van complexe cultuurobjecten;
- zich positioneren in wetenschappelijk debat en het belang van kunst en cultuur in de maatschappij overdragen en er een actieve bijdrage aan leveren.

- If you are ready to start writing your master thesis, you first need to sign up for it through studentportal . The sign-up period for courses in the first semester (periods 1 and 2) is around the first week of July; the sign-up period for courses in the second semester (periods 3 and 4) around the first week of December.
- You can only start preparing your master thesis once you successfully completed the Core Course Creative Industries or the Kerncursus Kunstbeleid en Kunstbedrijf.
- When you enroll for your master thesis, the course will automatically be added to your Brightspace account. Here, you will find all rules & regulations regarding the writing and supervision of your thesis.
- The next step (as detailed on Brightspace) is to upload a concise thesis proposal, in which you (loosely) specify the theme(s) and main question(s) you intend to address. Please note that the deadline for uploading your proposal is detailed on Brightspace.
- The program coordinator will then match each student (and each plan) to a suitable and available supervisor, and inform both students and supervisors of the outcome.
- You are expected to submit a full thesis proposal to your supervisor.
- Your supervisor will discuss your proposal and/or the introductory chapter of your thesis with you, and will ask a second member of staff (the ‘second reader’) to evaluate the viability and quality of your plan and/or chapter. You can start your research only if both supervisors approve of your proposal or chapter. If they do not approve, you will be asked to rewrite your plan or chapter and submit it again.
- Student and supervisor will jointly decide on the frequency and form of their meetings. They put their arrangements to paper in a ‘thesis contract’ (available on Brightspace) and a work plan. Habitual missing of deadlines and other irregularities may result in discontinuation of the supervision and/or a lower grade.
- Please hand in the final version of your thesis on Brightspace and, at the request of your supervisor, in print.
- Your supervisor and second reader grade the final version of your thesis individually, using a standard evaluation form available on Brightspace.
