At the end of the course, the student will have sufficient knowledge and skills to theoretically identify issues relating to communication in organizations. They will also have the knowledge and skills to empirically investigate these issues from a network perspective. In addition, the student can provide a substantiated advice on the possibilities of solving an internal communication issue.|
In this course students will apply the theoretical knowledge on organizational behaviour they have to issues of internal communication. Using case studies, the following themes will be discussed during classes:
In addition, students will get an introduction with regard to Social Network Analysis. Using their knowledge on theory and networks, students will develop a research based communication advice with regard to an empirical case. This assignment will be done as a team effort.
- Individuals in organisations (e.g. learning, personality, communication, perception and motivation)
- Groups and teams in organizations (e.g. group formation, group structure, individuals in groups and teamwork)
- Management processes (e.g. change, leadership, decision making, conflict and power & politics).
