Aims
At the end of the course, the student can communicate in English in writing about subjects relevant to international business communication (e.g. crisis communication, 'startups', social media policy) in a series of individual writing assignments in academic and professional contexts (e.g. academic essay; social media case analysis; management summary; crisis communication advice; press release) at CEFR level C;
• At the end of the course, the student can communicate in oral English on general subjects (e.g. personal background and ambitions, general social topics) and subjects relevant to international corporate communication (e.g. personal branding, crisis communication, etc.) in a series of individual speaking assignments in academic and professional contexts (e.g. discussion, academic debate, 'elevator pitch', CEO video) at CEFR level C.

Content
English is the lingua franca in international organizations, the business community, and in the academic world. This course aims to optimize the level of English of IBC students at the end of the Bachelor programme, and to prepare them for a certified English test (such as CAE and CPE), which,  increasingly, is a job requirement. These recognized tests certify the language level of a candidate with regard to the four skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking skills. In this course, the student practises these skills in a variety of individual assignments (including 'business cases') to optimize his / her level of English (CEFR range: advanced user). The focus in this course is on both academic and business English, and on productive skills (speaking and writing), as these are the skills that students will need most in their future positions.
