This course offers an introduction to the skillset that will developed more fully during your entire BA programme Comparative European History (CEH). You will become acquainted with the academic community of students and staff of the History Department, a community that you have joined yourself. The course starts with a so-called ‘kick-off’ at the beginning of period 1, in which you will take part in extra class sessions during the first week of classes. During this ‘kick-off’ your mentor and other colleagues from the History department will offer a first training on how to develop into an academically skilled student of History. By way of a first writing example during the ‘kick-off’ you will start your writing portfolio that will be further built during the entire BA programme.
During the academic year individual meetings with your mentor will take place. The end of the course is marked by a plenary meeting during Spring, in period 4.
