Cursusdoelen
After this course you can
  • divide roles and duties within a group and work together constructively
  • translate a societal question into a project plan for research
  • present the outcome of the research in a clear and societally relevant way
  • reflect on the group and research process
  • reflect on one or more specified societal roles of literature
Inhoud
The think tank is a course that lets you explore a societal issue related to literature on behalf of a company or institution, such as a museum, publisher, literary festival, schools, talent development programme, research groups or library. The societal issues can be related, e.g., to the way in which contemporary literary ecosystems will be able to adjust (better) to both existing and new types of authorship and readership, as well as to new (e.g. digital or cross-media) forms of literary art; to the values and  (regional, national or international) roles of literary creators, including translators, artistic directors and curators; to the position of the publishing industry in the current chains of literary production and distribution; to the reflection upon the impact of the book on social, economic and personal life.

About the think tank
In this course you will work in interdisciplinary groups, supervised by a lecturer. The approach is similar to how project-based research is conducted in society. In the think tank, you will use the knowledge and skills you have gained in your studies and the other courses of the minor and will expand these further by learning from each other while working on the project. This will enable you to develop competencies for your professional future.
The combination of research, reflection, and practice is the key element of the think tank.
