After this course you can:
- divide roles and duties within a group and work together constructively
- translate a societal question into a project plan for research
- present the outcome of the research in a clear and societally relevant way
- reflect on the group and research process

In the think tank you will work on a concrete assignment from an organization in an international context (e.g. organizations that operate in an itnernational context, organizations that adress international issues or organizations that have an international workforce).
The think tank will use one of these three themes as a starting point:
- From the inside out: issues related to how the Netherlands manifests itself in the world
- From the outside in: issues that relate to the way in which all kinds of issues related to globalization affect the Netherlands and
- Border areas: issues related to interactions taking place in border areas
In collaboration with this social partner, an issue will be formulated for a think tank along one of the themes mentioned. You can make your own choice here. So you do not know exactly which issue you are going to investigate in the think tank, but you do have direction because you know the theme from which you enter the think tank.
In the think tank you go through a process from formulating an objective, through determining the approach, dividing tasks and setting up and executing the project up to and including the presentation of the end product. The teachers guide you in this process and assess the completion of the course on the basis of a portfolio.
You use the knowledge and skills that you have acquired in your studies. You learn new things from each other and through experiences during the process. You are responsible for the group process and communication with social partners.
About the think tank
In this course you will work in interdisciplinary groups, supervised by a lecturer. The approach is similar to how project-based research is conducted in society. In the think tank, you will use the knowledge and skills you have gained in your studies and the other courses of the minor and will expand these further by learning from each other while working on the project. This will enable you to develop competencies for your professional future.
The combination of research, reflection, and practice is the key element of the think tank.
