Aims
After this course you can:
  • divide roles and duties within a team and work together constructively
  • translate a societal question into a project plan (including research)
  • present the outcomes of the (research) project in a clear and societally relevant way
  • reflect on the group and research process
Content
In the think tank you will work on a specific assignment from an organisation in an international context (e.g. organisations that operate in an international context, organisations that adress international issues or organisations that have an international workforce).

The think tank will use one of these three themes as a starting point:
  • From the inside out: issues related to how the Netherlands manifests itself in the world;
  • From the outside in: issues that relate to the way in which all kinds of issues related to globalization affect the Netherlands;
  • Border areas: issues related to interactions taking place in border areas.
In collaboration with this societal partner, an issue will be formulated for a think tank along one of the themes mentioned.

About the think tank
In this course you will work in interdisciplinary groups, supervised by a lecturer. The approach is similar to how project-based research is conducted in society. In the think tank, you will use the knowledge and skills you have gained in your studies and the other courses of the minor and will expand these further by learning from each other while working on the project. This will enable you to develop competencies for your professional future.
The combination of research, reflection, and practice is the key element of the think tank.

Are you considering an individual (research) internship instead of a think tank? Please make sure to take all the actions necessary on time (e.g. submit your request to the examination board by December 15). More information can be found in the minor guide.
