This course has a common component in which the concept of new philology plays a key role. Students will study and discuss this by drawing on various articles and chapters from recent publications in the field of (new) philology. The instructors will each introduce one case study that focuses on aspects of contemporary philological research (such as editing, text genesis, variant research and contextualisation). Students will then select one case in consultation with the instructor and conduct independent research from the perspective of new philology and offer a critical reflection of these perspectives. |
