Aims
The students are introduced to works from various literary traditions and encouraged to critically evaluate the application of modern literary theories to them.
Content

During the bachelor's programme, students mainly studied literature from their own disciplines (Arabic, German, English, etc.) and were introduced to the most important literary theories of the 20th century through the General Literary Theory course and selected minors. This course builds on that knowledge and invites students to look beyond the boundaries of their own disciplines and critically assess scientific articles from various fields.
Before the course begins, and in consultation with the professor, students will compile a bibliography of key literary approaches from the 20th and 21st centuries to select literary works within their own discipline. They will then select three articles from this bibliography to present to the other students alongside the literary work. All students must read the selected literature and accompanying articles in preparation of a presentation on the bibliographical research and literature. The course will examine 6 to 9 literary works in this way.
