The goal of this course is to provide students with an overview of the key elements of the field of business administration. Students should be able to understand the complexity that managers are confronted with and the solutions that they can use to deal with this complexity. In addition, students are expected to analyse cases based on the provided theoretical concepts and present learning questions.

This course gives you an introduction to the theory and practice of business administration. At Nijmegen, business administration is characterised by its broad an integral vision, based on a social scientific approach to organisations. The focus is on social processes in organisations, on change processes and on designing solutions for problems. This means that business administration uses knowledge and skills from related disciplines such as economy, sociology and psychology.
When managers are confronted by a variety of social, environmental, economic and technological changes, they have to find innovative solutions to deal with them. This requires a broad set of skills and capabilities. This course introduces students to a broad range of topics in management, including leadership, organisational structure, globalisation and motivation.
