Inhoud
This course introduces students to the field of organizational communication and organizational culture and the interactions between these fields. Organizational communication and the role of corporate culture are considered from three perspectives: traditional, interpretive and critical. Through a combination of lectures, case analysis and role play, students gain an understanding of the various roles and functions of communication in organizations. In the process students further explore and experience the interface between (corporate) culture and communication, by linking theory with practice. Through analytical assignments, the role of communication between members in the organization is explored in relevant contexts (e.g. in relation to organisation culture, leadership, employee relationships, power sourcing) and considered in various communicative situations (e.g. management communication, group communication, conflict management).
