Content

A Master's thesis consists of an academic paper of about 40 to 50 pages. The topic of your thesis must be related to the research of the staff members of the Innovation & Entrepreneurship team. The Master's thesis is an individual academic research project. While conducting your research and writing your thesis, you will be supervised and coached by a member of the staff with thorough expertise in the field of your study. The Master's thesis research is not an internship; you are expected to conduct a research project according to academic standards. It is possible to involve businesses in the research in any way conceivable as long as these activities are intended to contribute to the development of your thesis. The thesis is finalised with an oral defence, during which students defend their work. The Master's Thesis Guide provides you with all needed information and guides you through the process.
The thesis should be viewed as the icing on the cake of the Master’s specialisation Innovation and Entrepreneurship. It will test your competencies in critical and analytical thinking on innovation and entrepreneurial issues. Therefore, writing a thesis is not filling out a pre-defined template. Instead, it is a demonstration of your understanding of the idea that innovation and entrepreneurship are about something that goes beyond a routine application of a variety of tools and methods. The application of tools, theories and concepts should be based on a deliberate decision with regard to their validity and usefulness in a given situation. A thesis written from this perspective will demonstrate not only that you have mastered the required body of knowledge, but also that you understand how and when to put it to use.
