Content
The module
Qualitative research involves the science of obtaining, analysing, and interpreting qualitative information, i.e. information that cannot be expressed in numbers. Often, this concerns experiences, narratives, or perceptions of persons. To obtain such information in a reliable, objective, and systematic way is a challenge. This courses teaches the basic principles of qualitative research, with a focus on interviewing as a primary method of data collection, the grounded theory approach to analyzing qualitative data, the principle of triangulation to enhance validity, mixed methods designs, and the use of Atlas.ti software for qualitative data analysis. This course is compulsory for students with a communication profile, and highly recommended to anyone who is expected to work with qualitative information, e.g. in the context of health technology assessment, or consultancy.
