Effective presenting is in part creating an engaging story for your audience which is brought to life through clear and confident delivery, but it an understanding of visual communication and the basics of design principles will really make your presentations shine.

In this course you will learn how to:
• design and present presentations for different audiences
• develop a clear, appealing message which forms the foundation of your presentation
• effectively structure your presentation and communicate your ideas in English
• use a variety of rhetorical techniques to help your key message ‘stick’
• make effective use of voice and body language to engage your audience
• make use of design principles to create slides and posters which effectively support your message
• give and receive constructive feedback on your presentations and visuals.
Assessment
You must attend a minimum of 4 of the 5 sessions and complete all presentation tasks to obtain the credits for this course. The grade is based on an individual presentation given in the final class.
Module setup
- 15 hours of interactive group sessions (5 x 3 hours) + 23 hours of preparation and self-study
- In class you will learn different elements of presentation delivery & design, deliver pair and individual presentations, give peer feedback, and receive coaching from the class teacher to improve your presenting skills
- Self-study hours will be used to develop presentations pitches, slides and posters, usually in collaboration with one of your peers.
