Aims
This course aims to lay a foundation for the bachelor programme and beyond. The course will address topics such as data management, experiment design, null hypothesis significance testing, power analysis and sample size calculation, and outlier detection.

We will use the free statistical software JASP.
Content
To do well on the final examination, you should be able to do the following:
  1. You can correctly describe common statistical jargon in your own words.
  2. Given an experimental design and dataset, you can choose a correct analytical procedure, perform the analysis and interpret the outcome.
  3. You can perform linear regression, and construct, characterize and use a calibration curve.
  4. You can identify, reduce and analyse variation and errors (outliers) in measurements.
  5. You can calculate a sample size and perform a power analysis for a simple 2-sample experimental design.
