In this course, you will be introduced into the basics of methodology in the social sciences. The master thesis project provides the basic framework for this course; we have focused on typical challenges and problems students face in their master thesis project. Hence, the learning objectives of this course are:
  1. You formulate research goals and questions clearly and normatively
  2. You have an overview of basic methodologies and can select a methodology that fits your research goals and questions
  3. You understand the type of problems that can and cannot be researched with various methodologies
  4. You can build an analytical framework and deploy scientific literature to research and analyze a problem
Content
This course aims to prepare you, a student of the Science, Management & Innovation master specialisation for your master thesis project and consists of two parts. During the first part, you will be introduced to the process of research and the specific tools and techniques that can be used. The second part of this course will consist of setting up your research project, discussing it repeatedly in intensive group sessions and seeking and giving peer review.
