In this course, you will be starting up your own small business based around a software product. In the end, you will be able to:
- assess the merits, risks and approach of a small business idea using a lean canvas;
- develop a realistic software product that is ready to go to market;
- identify relevant decision makers and approach them in the most promising way;
- adapt and market your idea to be viable in the real world.
Moreover, at the end of the course you will have developed a minimal viable product that is either market-ready or close to it.

The course is assessed through means of:
- several presentations during the project (primarily used for feedback and guidance)
- a lean business canvas, submitted midway through the course
- a product, to be delivered at the end of the course
- a final presentation video explaining the project, outreach and decisions made
- a question session with a jury of teachers and industry/technology experts (based on the video and product)
The grade is 3/4 decided by the end result (judged by the product, presentation and question session), and 1/4 by the business plan, but may be modified based on the overall performance during the course work, and feedback from group members.

Attendance is mandatory during the first lecture, as this is when the project groups are made. (If you really cannot attend, you should mail the teacher to see if a solution can be found.) Registered students will be asked to indicate certain preferences and available time slots before the course, to make it easier to find good groups. If for whatever reason you cannot register in time, but intend to follow the course, please mail the teacher so you can also submit these preferences.
Other lectures are not mandatory, though it is strongly advised to attend since they are mostly very interactive.
Since face-to-face collaboration is an important component of this course, it is not possible to follow the course online.
