Aims

At the end of this course, the student will be able to

  • develop and test original new computer programs to solve basic problems in a scientific context.
  • use the basic elements of a computer language, such as data types, scripts, functions, loops, etc.
  • know how to apply Matlab to acquire data, analyse results, prepare graphical representations and develop model calculations to test theories in future scientific research.
Content

This integrated course and practicum will introduce the basics of computer programming. Matlab will be used as the programming environment to solve problems in science. The focus is on the hands-on experience with numerical algorithms.

Test information
Grade is determined from a computer assignment (30%) and a final written exam (70%). Both must be passed with a 5.0 or higher.
