Aims
Independent interpretation and evaluation of NMR in terms of molecular structure for organic molecules and mass spectra for bio- and organic molecules.
Content
Important techniques for the characterization of compounds by instrumental analysis are treated. The emphasis is on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) of organic compounds and mass spectrometry of bio- and organic molecules.

This is a Master's level class
Presumed foreknowledge
Organic chemistry 3 (NWI-MOL095), Magnetic resonance I (NWI-MOL057), Introduction to Magnetic Resonance (NWI-MOL058), or Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry (NWI-MOL108). This is a mandatory course in the specialisation 'Medicinal Chemistry' and 'Molecular chemistry'.
Test information
Digital exam with written and spectra-solving portions. Students are strongly encouraged to be comfortable with MestreNova and Chemdraw as those software packages will be necessary to answer some questions.
