  • The student has a basic knowledge on experimental techniques such as electronics, cryogenics and vacuum techniques 
  • The student understands the experimental and physical background of building a specific scientific apparatus
  • The student is able to translate a scientific question into an appropriate experimental design/realisation
  • The student is able to apprehend the principles of a specific setup, relate them to the knowledge taught in the course and convey them to his/her peers.
Inhoud
The central aim of this lecture is to provide the student with (basic) hands-on experimental knowledge to perform experimental research. 
It will give a general overview on selected experimental techniques amended by the presentation of specific experimental setups in form of student seminars.

Instructional Modes
 
- Lectures: basic concepts and general overview
- Problem classes: discuss and solve experimental problems
- Student presentations: present chosen experimental techniques and discuss them with peers

  • Bachelor Program Laboratory Courses (Practicum) 
  • General physics knowledge from bachelor program Physics & Astronomy
Toetsinformatie
  • Oral presentation (50%)
  • Oral exam (50%)
In order to pass the exam both components have to be graded 5 or better.
