Aims
It is not always evident how materials (macroscopic) properties are related to molecular (microscopic) properties. This course aims to give insight in how the two are related. Which molecular properties induce a macroscopic response? How should we change the molecular structure to realise new materials properties?
Content
This course discusses how materials properties are related to molecules and their organisation. As examples, we will revise opto-electronic organic materials (for solar cells, transitors, etc), liquid crystals and mechanically responsive materials. Part of the course are student presentations on a recent literature.
