At the end of the course, the student is able to:
- Design, carry out and analyze empirical research in a methodologically correct way
- Critically read and evaluate academic articles
- Translate a theory into a practical framework, algorithm or a computational model
- Able to present the results in a scientifically rigorous way
- Collaborate with partners

In this practical course, small groups of students design and conduct a small-scale empirical study that includes the design and evaluation of a computational and/or cognitive model. Each research step is prepared and presented in class. Close attention is paid to the embedding of the research into existing literature, the rational of the research and consistency of argumentation, the formulation of research questions and hypotheses, the design of a proper methodology, the interpretation of results and future research suggestions. |
