Content
The Research Project represents the pinnacle of your studies as an Artificial Intelligence Masters students and gives you a perfect opportunity to take what you have learned during the program and apply it to a real problem, either in an academic or commercial research context. During this project, you will perform research on a topic in the domain of your chosen specialization: Neural Computation or Interactive Agents. Before starting your research project you must submit a project proposal which is approved by the specialization leader as relevant to that track. If you do your research at a company, please make sure to read the "Chekclist for external projects" and discuss any questions with respect to intellectual property (IP), on-disclosure agreements (NDAs) etc. with the thesis coordinator.

The research project can be done within the AI department, other academic departments at the Radboud University or a different university, or a company or non-academic (research) institute. It is also an option to go abroad and perform one's internship research at a foreign research institute. Your research project is finalized with a public presentation, the submission of the master's thesis, and a formal defense. Details and evaluation criteria are available in the "Master thesis and internship rules & regulations".

The research project is a very important part of your AI Masters study and it is important to carefully select a project (and supervisor) that is both something that you enjoy working on and that you can realistically achieve in the time available (9 months full time). To help with this process, we maintain online information on thesis projects available at companies and at the DCC. We suggest you also attend the BBB career event (www.bbb-careerevent.com/) that is organized every year in May at the Huygens building at our campus.

The "Master thesis and internship rules & regulatios", the "Cheklist for external projects", as well as more information about project options, possible supervisors, etc. for the research project are available on the AI master programme's intranet pages.  If you have questions, contact the master thesis coordinator j.kwisthout@donders.ru.nl. For more information about the procedures and options for doing your research project abroad you can contact the internationalization coordinator internationalofficer@ai.ru.nl.
