Aims
Upon completing the course, you must have mastered five primary learning objectives:
  1. You can describe and compare major theories from the history of psychology on four subjects, namely the structure of the mind, executive control, consciousness, and intelligence, from the pioneering work of Wundt and James to the present day.
  2. You can place these theories in their historical context, i.e., you can assess how these theories are connected to the body of thought belonging to the era in which they were created.
  3. You can analyze how competing theories, and the debate that they sparked, contributed to the formation of theories on the four subjects.
  4. You can identify what aspects of historical psychological theories are still relevant to contemporary psychological theories.
  5. You can apply the modern theories.
