Aims
In this course students:
  1. Obtain knowledge of psychotherapeutic movements and modern-day forms of therapy
  2. Receive an overview of practical treatment applications through case discussion, video material and demonstrations
  3. Develop a scientific and critical attitude towards psychotherapy and its effects.
Content
The Psychotherapy course in the third year of the Bachelor's programme provides education in the area of psychotherapy and psychological treatment of children, adults and the elderly. The course first examines what constitutes psychological change, and what factors like patient commitment and quality of the therapeutic relationship contribute to such change. This creates a framework for the rest of the course.
We then proceed to traditional movements and current-day forms of therapy: behavioural therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, person-directed psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, system therapy, group therapy and Schema therapy.
We will also discuss research subjects such as effect research, evidence-based treatments and clinical assessment, as well as practical subjects, including e-mental health, motivating patients, internships and working as a health care psychologist.
Uniquely, the majority of lectures in this course are accompanied by live or video demonstrations of the therapeutic methods under discussion. The lecturers devote at least a portion of their professional activities to clinical practice.

Examination
Written examination (40 multiple-choice questions).
