The aim of the internship and thesis assignment is to let you set up and carry out an empirical research project on behaviour change in practice as independently as possible. In this project, knowledge and skills you have acquired during the courses of the master program Behaviour Change are used and deepened to tackle an actual behaviour change problem. In addition to applying psychological theory and research methods to a practical problem, you will gain experience with managing a project in which you can apply your acquired professional skills.

In principle, you apply for an external internship wherein you can study a specific project or problem within an organization and subsequently design an intervention to change behaviour. You will be coached while searching for a project you find interesting to apply your knowledge to. The internship must be sufficiently substantive in terms of knowledge and skills in the field of behavioral change. In special cases an internship can be done within a university context, if it concerns relevant and innovative fundamental research to acquire theoretical knowledge on behaviour change.
The project will start in February and end in July.
The end products of this course will be a scientific thesis written in APA style (70 % of your grade) and an advisory report (20 % of your grade). Furthermore, your professional performance during the internship will be taken into account (10 % of your grade).
