Personnel psychology in the Master Work, Organisation and Health (WOH) focuses on individuals interacting with their work and their organisation and the person-organisation fit. Psychological aspects of Human Resource Management and Human Resource Development are highlighted.
Based on the input, throughput and output model of personnel in work organisations, the following human resources (HR) topics are discussed: recruitment and selection, introduction and socialisation of new personnel, competences, (sustainable) employability, employee development, performance management, international HRM, and strategic HRM.
Questions like ‘what is the role of Human Resource Management in the realization of organisational goals, including motivated, vital, and well-performing staff?’ and ‘what is the theoretical background of HR practices such as personnel selection?’ are addressed. Also, specific themes such as talent management programs and sustainability at work are discussed.
The main goal of this course is to give a complete and theory-based overview of personnel psychology topics and themes, with a clear link to HR practices.
