Inhoud
In the course 'Gifted Education', active and motivated students are welcome to work on a specific theme concerning the broader area of 'Gifted Education'. In the first meeting, students choose from different themes, coming from the educational field and recent research. It is also possible to opt for another, self-selected theme. Students will work in groups. After a short introduction, participants of the different groups will elaborate on their own specific theme, supervised by the teacher, Lianne Hoogeveen. Examples of earlier themes: 'Gifted students with learning and developmental problems', 'Gifted Immigrants', ‘Twice Exceptional Students', 'Underachievement', 'Motivation'. The format of every class is: a short update of every group; a short presentation of a related theme (by Lianne Hoogeveen or a guest teacher); working in groups, supervised by the teacher(s). During the last class, the groups will give short presentations. The final product of this course can be an essay, but creativity is encouraged, so another form of a final product is, after mutual agreement, possible. Apart from the final product, which is a product of the group, every individual student writes a personal logbook, in which (s)he reports on the activities (s)he did and an evaluation about the cooperation in the group. A maximum of 30 students can participate in this course

This course connects directly to SDG ‘4: Quality Education, and indirectly to SDG ’10: Reduced inequalities’ SDG ‘5: Gender Equality’; SDG 1: No Poverty’, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being’, and SDG ‘8: Decent Work and Economic Growth’.
