Content
This course offers an introduction to contemporary gender theories. The aim is to give students the opportunity to familiarize themselves thoroughly with some of the most influential theories and major theoretical debates in the interdisciplinary field of gender studies as it has developed over the past four decades. To achieve that aim we will use a textbook (Alsop et al. 2002) and a number of key texts that have centrally informed the project of gender studies as it stands today. We expect students to prepare the lectures with the help of reading questions pertaining to the course readings. The aim of the reading questions is to help you actively engage with the course readings. The course is team-taught by five instructors from various disciplinary perspectives.
