Inhoud
As a Western society, we are in the midst of a transformation from a linear to a circular economy. This leads to various debates on issues such as sustainability, corporate governance, social entrepreneurship and value creation. The elective 'Social, Sustainable and Technological Innovation' (SSTI) explores these contemporary debates on themes pertaining to the role of the contemporary firm.
It is essential to understand these debates in the light of organisational and societal transformations and transitions. Central to these on-going debates is innovation in a variety of ways. This course is concerned with the interactions between technological change, innovation and organisation. Here technological change and innovation may not only come from established firms but also from startups or entrepreneurs. It starts with a lecture dealing with various aspects of innovation and innovation management. It goes from closed innovation to the notion of 'inclusive' innovation and the quest for shared or multiple value creation aimed at sustainability.
The course has a transdisciplinary character with a relatively strong emphasis on the social-organisational aspects of the debate - not on the technological or ecological side of things. It is more a 'journey of discovery', leading to interaction and debate, than an attempt to transfer a well-defined body of knowledge.
The course consists of a series of lectures, guest lectures and seminars. If the number of students exceeds the available capacity, selection procedures may apply. The capacity of the course is limited to 100 students.
