I am interested in how the effects of the multitude of environmental factors known to shape the large scale distribution of plant diversity are distributed across different taxonomic levels and spatial resolutions, as well as how their relevance varies when treating such factors as determinants of dispersal processes over time rather than of static distribution patterns.
Improving our understanding of the spatial scales at which factors affecting biodiversity act and how their impact is distributed across different taxa as well as their potential for facilitating or restricting range shifts in response to climate change or the dispersal of alien species allows us to better predict the effects of different aspects of global change and adjust conservation efforts accordingly.
