M.S. Bialas (Mara)

My research focuses on the impact of mental fatigue on moral and risky decision-making. Mental fatigue, a feeling nearly everyone experiences regularly, has often contributed to negative outcomes, including financial losses, strained relationships, and even global crises. Prolonged mental fatigue also undermines workplace well-being—a concern the World Health Organization is working to address through guidelines. Through my current research on how fatigue influences risky financial decisions, I aim to uncover why we tend to underestimate risks under fatigue and to develop practical recommendations that help prevent adverse decisions, even when mentally fatigued.
