My research focuses on essayistic film practices and the role of moving images as nodes of resistance in processes of social and political stigmatization, particularly in the context of anti-migrant sentiments.

In my dissertation, I look at essay films that signify different realities of displacement and statelessness through a contingent aesthetics that resists essentialization. The filmmakers in my dissertation search for different forms to mediate the uncertainties and tragedies of dislocation, mobilizing questions revolving around memory, testimony, narrative, and representation.
