dr. S. Brenk (Sebastian)

Dr. Sebastian Brenk is an Assistant Professor in innovation management at Nijmegen School of Management of Radboud University and a Visiting Professor at RWTH Aachen University in the Technology and Innovation Management Institut (RWTH TIM) in Germany from which he received 2021 his PhD in the research fields of open value creation and business model innovation.

His current research interests include studying the advantageous structures and leadership for open value creation in digital ecosystems, and customer-centric methods that facilitate business model innovation. In particular, his research investigates digital business models and the systematic design of platform-based ecosystems. Sebastian studies the leadership, organizational structures, and cultures that facilitate organizational transformation to explore and exploit new digital technology domains such as Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Digital Twins. In these research backgrounds, he investigates open innovation approaches and how organizations design boundaries to manage the connection with their external environment.

With regards to teaching, Sebastian currently teaches and coordinates bachelor- and master-level courses on Innovation Management, Sustainability, and Academic Skills while supervising bachelor and master thesis projects.
