The Phenomenality of the Event and the Transformation of Phenomenological Subjectivity

My dissertation project focuses on the event in two contemporary philosophers who think in the borders of phenomenology and describe their works as phenomenological: Jean-Luc Marion and Claude Romano. Despite the variety of figures and conceptualizations of the event in contemporary phenomenology, one can say that the event has a fundamental status for these two philosophers in the phenomenological tradition. The event as an alternative to former understandings of phenomenality furnishes a new conception of the “subject” beyond transcendental ego and Dasein. My study investigates how the event broadens phenomenality and transforms phenomenological subjectivity in light of accounts of Marion and Romano.
