N.C. Fuchs (Naomi)

My PhD research focuses on the techno-securitisation of national parks and nature reserves in Tanzania and Kenya. In contrast to studies which have focused on the effects of nature conversation on wildlife, this project aims to understand the effects of conservation practice on human-beings due to the fact that throughout history, humans have always been sharing space with protected wildlife in conversation areas. The underlying colonial fantasies which continue to inform contemporary wildlife conservation practices constitute another focus of this project, which envisions to make tangible processes of political subjectification in current wildlife management practices.
