In my work, I like to adopt an interdisciplinary focus, as well as a reflexive and critical approach. I draw insights from social and cultural psychology, cultural anthropology, and human and political geography. My research interests revolve around the psychosocial well-being of migrant residents, with a special focus on people with refugee status. I am particularly interested in processes of exclusion and inclusion, in conditions of vulnerability and privilege, and how these affect the well-being, positions, and experiences of different groups in society.
My previous research has mainly revolved around a critical examination of the concept of vulnerability in the context of migration and international protection and its potential as an analytical category for the study of migrants' positions and experiences in our societies.
I was involved in two European (Horizon) projects: CONCILIARE, investigating representations of and reactions to changes in colonial cultural heritage, particularly focusing on racialized products of cultural consumption, and MIMY, investigating the integration of young migrants living in vulnerable conditions in Europe.
Overall, I would describe myself as a (privileged) migrant conducting research on migration. Through my research and my teaching, I aim to give my small contribution to the wellbeing of marginalized communities and the development of a more just society.
