Corina Greven (PhD December 2011) is a psychologist and holds a Chair in Environmental Sensitivity in Health at the Radboud University Medical Centre. She received her BSc (Hons) in Psychology from University College London in 2007, and an MSc and PhD in Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London in 2008 and 2011. Prof Greven’s research group focuses on studying fundamental inter-individual differences in sensitivity to environmental stimuli. An important question is how heightened sensitivity to negative (symptom-promoting) and positive (health-promoting) environments impacts our health and flourishing, and how overstimulation from environmental information can be prevented (e.g., through mindfulness training). New is the transdisciplinary focus on traits and mental disorders related to sensitivity to environments, such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and on the personality trait Sensory Processing Sensitivity, which forms an innovative niche in environmental sensitivity research. By studying these different constructs together deepened insight can be gained that could not have been gained by studying them in isolation. Prof Greven has received multiple research grants such as from the Horizon 2020 Marie-Sklodowska-Curie actions, MIND Netherlands, the Dutch National Science Organisation (NWO), and is part of the Innovative Training Network EU-AIMS-2-TRIALS and of Neurotech EU. She has supervised >8 PhD students, and has received multiple scientific prizes such as the prestigious Kramer-Pollnow Young Investigator Award for her contribution to the study of ADHD. She holds good connections with Karakter Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
