Niklas Holzhauer is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the Nijmegen School of Management at Radboud University, The Netherlands, and the Department of Social Sciences and Business at Roskilde University, Denmark. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Kassel University, Germany. He is specialised in the discipline of Global Political Economy and researches European economic governance from a historical materialist perspective. Focal points are the regulation of so-called shadow banks, non-bank financial intermediation entities, securities financing transactions and repo markets, and implications of the financialisation of accumulation regimes for the macro-prudential stability of economic systems.
Holzhauer is a pro bono researcher for the Global Human Rights Defense (GHRD), a The Hague-based human rights organisation, where he consults the team on European migration and asylum policy.
