Candela Jasmin Hüsgen has more than ten years of experience in the field of Animal Assisted Interventions with Dogs. She has completed a very goal-oriented development in human and animal welfare, training and therapy. She has begun as a kindergarten teacher, followed by the study of Animal Management, bringing two passions together: Working with children and dogs. She is specialized in Dog Assisted Interventions, is a registered Dogtrainer and studied Pedagogical Science with a central focus on ethics and policies at the Radboud University. Her work is based on high ethical and quality standards without losing focus on balancing all needs: the client, the dog and the professional.
She also works as an animal-assisted therapist for children with behavioural problems living in residential homes.
Since 2021 she has been working as PhD at the Radboud Univerity and is researching Dog Assisted Therapy in the Netherlands.
Next to these activities, she has been a speaker at different conferences and is a docent for animal-assisted therapy with dogs.
