Events and marketing, tourism and sustainability – these are the topics I am interested in. Born in Kleve, I’ve studied International Tourism Management in Germany and UK. As a project manager in business tourism and event management I’ve gained practical experience in two agencies based in Hamburg, where I was responsible for the organisation of scientific congresses and controlling of project teams at both, national and international level.
After more than ten years I decided in 2012 to return to the lower Rhine area and to contribute my experiences from the operative project management in tourism, marketing and events to students as a lecturer. Moreover, I am working part-time as program coordinator for the study programme Sustainable Tourism and the faculty Society and Economics at the Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve.
Besides this, I am engaged in my dissertation focusing on the evaluation of sustainable performance measurement in the German meetings and events industry under the supervision of Professor Huib Ernste (RU) and Professor Marion Halfmann (HSRW). The theoretical aim of this dissertation is the development of a conceptual framework, which allows the optimisation of sustainability of conferences, congresses and meetings. This shall lead to a multi-dimensional evaluation of event impacts and the identification of key indicators. The dissertation aims to offer stakeholders, decision-makers, event managers, association and congress organisers an analytical instrument which allows the identification of economic, social and ecological impacts and effects of the planned event in order to use them target-oriented in the different fields of operation. The aim of this dissertation is to conduct a study of sustainability in the German meetings industry in order to develop a conceptual framework for sustainable event performance management.
