Manja Kisner works primarily on Kant and post-Kantian philosophy, especially German idealism and Schopenhauer. She is interested in the influence of classical German philosophy on the 19th and 20th century philosophies, including the reception of Kant and German idealism in Schopenhauer’s system.

Her current research is dedicated to the concept of drive (Trieb) in classical German philosophy. In this project, she examines how, at the turn of the 19th century, the concept of drive evolved into a distinctly philosophical concept and laid the foundations for integrative accounts of human life and nature.

Before coming to Radboud, Manja Kisner was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Jena and LMU Munich, lecturer at the University of Wuppertal, and visiting scholar at KU Leuven and Brown University. She received her PhD in Philosophy from LMU Munich.
