Saskia B.J. Koch is postdoctoral researcher at the Donders Center for Cognitive Neuroimaging (DCCN) of the Radboud University Nijmegen. Her main research interest is to reveal neurobiological mechanisms of emotion regulation and resilience, in order to identify new neurobiological targets to enhance treatment response in psychiatric patients. She combines innovative emotion regulation paradigms with pharmacological interventions (oxytocin administration), functional neuroimaging and neurostimulation techniques.

Currently, she coordinates a large-scale prospective study on the role of emotion regulation neurocircuitry in the development of trauma-related psychopathology in police recruits, in collaboration with the Dutch Police Academy (PhD-student R. Kaldewaij, NWO VICI project of prof. Karin Roelofs). Additionally, she conducts various neuroimaging studies (meta-analysis, functional neuroimaging) to characterize higher-order supramodal contributions of the prefrontal cortex during emotion regulation, both in healthy and in clinical samples.
